2007 Massachusetts Drinking Water Day Awards Ceremony

Water Department Accepting

Date: May 10, 2007
Place: University of Mass. Amherst, Campus Center Ballroom
Host: Massachusetts Drinking Water Event Committee

Awards Given

The 2007 Massachusetts Public Water System Awards will be given to the public water suppliers who scored in the top 10% in calendar year 2006. Awards will be  given in four categories: Small Community Systems (serving 3300 people or less), Medium-to-Large Community Systems, Consecutive Systems (community systems supplying purchased water), and NTNCs (serving nonresidential schools and businesses).

Scoring will be based on compliance with state and federal drinking water standards, regulations, and guidelines in 2006.   A large number of water suppliers were under consideration for these awards, so ties were broken by reviewing compliance records for up to five previous years.

The 2007 EPA Environmental Educator Awards will be presented at the ceremony to recognize individuals in each state who have demonstrated exceptional work in drinking water education.

For more information about the awards and the ceremony, contact Marie Tennant at (617) 292-5885 or marie.tennant-DEP@state.ma.us.
